FCC commissioner expressed criticism of Vice President Harris’ appearance on the late-night Saturday show three days before the election.
Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise cameo appearance on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. A Federal Communications (FCC) official issued a statement criticizing the move, which he viewed as an attempt to avoid providing comparable time and placement to both presidential candidates.
Commissioner Brandon Carr stated, “This is a clear and blatant effort to evade the FCC’s Equal Time rule. The purpose of the rule is to avoid exactly this type of biased and partisan conduct — a licensed broadcaster using the public airwaves to exert its influence for one candidate on the eve of an election. Unless the broadcaster offered Equal Time to other qualifying campaigns,”
The network then provided former President Donald Trump commercial time during its NASCAR coverage and Sunday Night Football broadcast.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For government officials as they seek to ensure federal election laws and regulations are followed.
- For Commissioner Carr and the rest of the FCC members to be discerning regarding their oversight of the nation’s communications.
